Dr. Axel Lindner is Deputy Head of the Macroeconomics Department and Head of the Macroeconomic Analysis and Forecasting Research Group at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle (IWH). His research focuses on European economic analysis, monetary economics, and the application of information economics to forecasting. He has been with the Institute since 2001, serving as Ombudsperson ensuring adherence to scientific integrity. Lindner holds a doctorate from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. His career includes visiting professorships at Concordia University (Canada) and Queen's University (Canada), as well as teaching at Goethe University Frankfurt's Economic Theory department.
Research interests emphasize economic growth dynamics in the Eurozone, policy impacts on forecasting accuracy, and structural reforms. His work bridges theoretical insights with practical policy analysis, particularly in debt sustainability and refugee distribution within the EU. Recent publications analyze Germany's economic stagnation recovery and the durability of IMF forecasts.
