Alessandro Sardone is a Lecturer in the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Trento. He concurrently holds a Research Associate position at the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research Halle (IWH) since September 2020, where he contributes to macroeconomic forecasts and environmental policy analysis. His doctoral studies are jointly conducted at IWH and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
His research focuses on environmental macroeconomics, monetary/fiscal policy design, and economic forecasting. Key projects include modeling optimal monetary policy in two-sector DSGE frameworks and analyzing the macroeconomic impacts of carbon taxation. He has been involved in IWH's forecast reports on monetary conditions and sectoral CO2 emissions in Germany.
Recent work explores inflation dynamics in the Euro Zone, green transition policy trade-offs, and sectoral inflation responses to monetary policy. His 2024 paper in Empirica re-examined Phillips Curve dynamics to explain post-crisis inflation puzzles, while his IWH working paper proposes asymmetric monetary policy targeting for clean/dirty sectors.
Professional activities include organizing the IWH-CIREQ-GW-BOKERI Macroeconometric Workshop and presenting at major conferences like AERE and EEA Congress. Teaching responsibilities include courses at the University of Trento.
