Avtar Brah

Avtar Brah is a distinguished sociologist and former Professor of Sociology at Birkbeck, University of London (2009–retired). She specializes in race, gender, and ethnic identity studies, awarded an MBE (2001) for her research contributions. Her academic journey includes roles at Leicester University (1980–82), Open University (1982–1985), and visiting professorships at UC Berkeley (1992) and Cornell University (2001).
