Avril Langard-Tang

Avril Langard-Tang is a Lecturer and Module Leader in Deaf Studies and Interpreting at the University of Wolverhampton's School of Social, Historical and Political Studies. A native BSL user raised in a Deaf family, she bridges her deep cultural identity with over two decades of teaching experience in further and higher education. Her work focuses on enhancing institutional accessibility for the Deaf community through BSL training and curriculum development.

Her research interests include Deaf Counseling and Deaf Relay Interpreting, while her teaching spans BSL levels 1-6, BSL Linguistics, and specialized modules on Deaf-Blind people's daily lives. She holds professional memberships with Signature, a UK awarding body for sign language qualifications.
