Aviv Shachak

Aviv Shachak is a Professor at the University of Toronto, jointly appointed with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health and the Faculty of Information. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Victoria and a Wilson Centre Scholar.

• PhD in Information Science, Bar-Ilan University, Israel

Research interests focus on improving health information systems through education and digital professionalism. His work spans three main areas: enhancing electronic medical record use in primary care, patient engagement and health information literacy, and developing educational interventions for digital professionalism. He employs simulation-based training, qualitative methods, and mixed approaches in his research.

Teaching and supervision: Professor Shachak supervises Master of Health Informatics students and contributes to health professions education research. He has been involved in the Health Systems Research initiative and curriculum design for health data science.
