Averill Curdy is a Professor of Instruction in the Department of English at Northwestern University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and an M.F.A. from the University of Houston. Her work focuses on Poetry & Poetics, Creative Writing, and Translation.
Her poetry and translations have been featured in prominent literary journals such as Poetry, The Paris Review, and Partisan Review. She co-edited the Longman Anthology of Poetry (2005) and authored the poetry collection Song and Error (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2013).
She has received several accolades, including the Rona Jaffe Foundation fellowship, Pushcart Prize, and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and Illinois Council for the Arts. Her teaching and research emphasize creative writing and poetry analysis.
