Aurora Jacobsen Evenshaug is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oslo’s Department of Education. Her research focuses on theories of Bildung (danning), conceptual history, and critical approaches to modernity. She holds a Master’s degree in European culture (University of Oslo) and a Bachelor’s in the history of ideas. Her current PhD project examines the concept of danning in Norwegian curricula from 1922 to 2020, analyzing its political and societal implications. She has published in journals like Global Education Review and Nytt Norsk Tidsskrift, co-authored a book preface on acceleration theory (Cappelen Damm, 2024), and engaged in media interviews discussing Hartmut Rosa’s theories and Norwegian educational discourse.
Her academic interests span critical theory, democracy in education, and the history of Norwegian educational policy. She contributes to research groups Humanities Studies in Education (HumStud) and Forum for Critical Theory. Prior to academia, she worked as an educator at the Jewish Museum in Trondheim (2017–2020).
