Aurelio Muttoni

Aurelio Muttoni is an Honorary Professor at EPFL’s School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC), where he led the Concrete Construction Laboratory from 2000 to 2024. He holds a diploma and doctorate in civil engineering from ETH Zurich (1982 and 1989). His teaching focuses on structural design, concrete structures, and bridge design. Research interests include concrete behavior, innovative structural design, shear forces, nonlinear analysis, bond mechanics, and ultra-high-performance concrete. He co-founded engineering consultancies Muttoni Partners and Lurati Muttoni Partner. Key awards include the Freyssinet Medal (2022), Chester Paul Siess Award (2010), and Wason Medal (2014). He co-authored the Eurocode EN 1992-1-1 (2023).
