معرفی
Aurelia Strauss is a Guest Researcher in the Neurobiology department at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering. Her research focuses on the chronotype of wild birds, particularly great tits (Parus major), exploring causes, consequences, and environmental interactions. She completed her PhD project examining how chronotype variation influences behavior, reproductive success, and survival in avian species.
Research Interests: Chronotype dynamics in wild birds, effects of artificial light at night on avian physiology, social mate influences on diel timing, and evolutionary adaptations to environmental changes. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to life on land and climate action.
Key Findings: Demonstrated links between circadian rhythms and behavioral timing in songbirds, effects of light pollution on incubation patterns, and social synchronization mechanisms in great tits. Recent work emphasizes individual differences in chronotype and their ecological implications.
Collaborations: Active contributor to the AL-Xtra project investigating wild bird chronotypes, collaborating with Prof. Helm and Dr. Visser. Presented findings at multiple international conferences, including the International Society for Behavioral Ecology Congress.
Datasets: Published open-access datasets on nest temperature monitoring, skin temperature profiles, and ambient light exposure experiments, supporting reproducible research in chronobiology.
