Aung Nay

Dr. Aung Nay is a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Consultant Cardiologist at Barts Heart Centre, Barts Health NHS Trust, affiliated with Queen Mary University of London’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. He specializes in heart failure, inherited cardiac conditions, and multi-modal cardiac imaging, with expertise in AI, genomics, and epidemiology. Dr. Aung’s research focuses on genetic/environmental determinants of cardiac remodelling and heart failure, leveraging AI and multi-omics techniques. He leads a team creating novel imaging-derived biomarkers and evaluates their genetic underpinnings in large-scale genomic studies. His work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the EuroCMR Young Investigator Award (2019) and the Royal Society of Medicine President’s Medal (2020). He collaborates internationally with institutions like Oxford, Harvard, and the NIH, and holds an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship (2023) to study heart failure imaging genetics. Dr. Aung also serves on committees for the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging.

His research integrates cutting-edge technologies to decode the genetic architecture of cardiac imaging phenotypes, aiming to identify therapeutic targets. He has pioneered AI-driven approaches for cardiovascular risk stratification and biomarker development. Collaborations with industry partners like NVIDIA enhance computational capabilities for large-scale data analysis.
