Augustine Hammond is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Georgia's Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Urban/Community Planning from the University of Akron (2005), an MPA in Public Administration (2001), and earlier degrees in Economics and Social Studies Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
His research focuses on community development, emergency management, nonprofit organizations, and online education innovations in public affairs. Recent publications explore town-gown relations, experiential learning through Model UN simulations, and nonprofit roles in local economic development.
Hammond has held extensive service roles including chairing the Master of Public Administration Admissions Committee and serving on university-wide committees like the Graduate Council and Faculty Council. He contributes to academic governance through journal reviewing for Journal of Public Affairs Education and SN Social Sciences, and has consulted for the College Board's Advanced Placement Examinations.
