Audrey Moores is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at McGill University, with an affiliate role in the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering. She also serves as Executive Editor of ACS Sustainable Chem. Eng. and as a Council member of the Royal Society of Canada's College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. Her research focuses on sustainable solutions for nanomaterials, catalysis, and biomass valorization using mechanochemical and solid-state methods. She holds prestigious awards, including the Canada Research Chair in Green Chemistry and the Canadian Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Award for Green Chemistry (2021).
Moores earned her PhD (2005), M.Sc. (2002), and B.Sc. (2001) in Chemistry from École Polytechnique. Her lab, located in OM 036, develops green synthesis techniques for biopolymers and nanomaterials, emphasizing waste reduction and earth-abundant materials. Notable projects include CO2-responsive chitosan functionalization and mechanochemical biomass conversion. She is actively involved in science communication and policy advocacy for sustainable chemistry.
Her editorial role at ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering emphasizes rigorous sustainability assessments in submitted manuscripts. Recent work explores plasmon-enhanced catalysis, quantum dot environmental toxicity, and hypergolic ignition using metal-organic frameworks. She advises on over 20 patents and serves on grant review panels for NSERC and the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
