Carmela Aprile is a Researcher at the University of Namur affiliated with the Namur Institute of Structured Matter and Unit of Nanomaterials Chemistry. She earned her Doctor of Science from Università di Palermo (2004). Aprile leads multiple research projects including AC-DC Catalysis, PHOSPORE, and nanostructure synthesis initiatives.
Her research focuses on sustainable catalysis development with emphasis on nanomaterials design for environmental applications. Key areas include CO2 conversion to valuable chemicals, catalytic upgrading of biomass feedstocks like glycerol and dihydroxyacetone, and development of nanostructured catalysts for sustainable chemistry. Recent work explores bifunctional catalysts, doped nanomaterials, and hybrid organic-inorganic materials for environmental remediation and green synthesis.
Aprile's publications demonstrate extensive work in catalytic material design, particularly focusing on energy-efficient synthesis routes and reaction mechanisms.
