She is affiliated with UMR 8164 - HISTORY, ARCHAEOLOGY AND LITERATURE OF ANCIENT WORLDS, a prominent research laboratory focusing on ancient civilizations.
Professor Gouy specializes in Greco-Roman Art History and Archaeology with particular expertise in ancient textiles and dress practices. Her research examines how clothing functioned as extensions of human identity and physical capacities in antiquity, connecting historical textile production with contemporary textile studies. She has organized significant international conferences including the 2022 'Smart Textiles from Antiquity to Modern Times' event that fostered dialogue between ancient and modern textile researchers.
Her recent scholarly contribution includes editing 'Textiles in Motion. Dress for Dance in the Ancient World' (Oxford, 2023), which explores the relationship between dance performance and costume in ancient civilizations. This work demonstrates her focus on how dress adorned dancers, defined roles, and formed symbolic expressions in historical contexts.
