Dr. Audrey Fino is Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Groningen, specializing in international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and human rights. She obtained her Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta (1995), Diploma of Notary Public (1993), and PhD summa cum laude from the University of Groningen (2025) on harmful speech in international law. Her professional experience includes legal positions at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, and REDRESS.
Research examines harmful speech across international legal regimes with focus on gendered dimensions of incitement. Recent publications analyze hate speech definitions, UN regulatory frameworks, and gender-sensitive approaches in international courts. She coordinates the International Humanitarian Law course, supervises student theses, and founded the International Humanitarian Law Clinic. Fino frequently contributes to international tribunals through amicus curiae briefs and legal analysis.
