Attila Varga is an Habil. Associate Professor at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), affiliated with the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology. He is part of the Sustainability and Psychology Research Group and serves on the International Relations and Projects Committee. His work focuses on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), environmental education, and pedagogical innovation. Varga has contributed significantly to eco-school initiatives, including authoring guides and participating in EU-funded projects like the SUPPORT network. He has published extensively on topics such as eco-emotions, pro-environmental behavior, and the integration of sustainability into curricula.
Research Interests: Varga’s work bridges environmental psychology, pedagogy, and sustainable development. He emphasizes the role of schools in fostering community collaboration, teacher reflection, and systemic institutional change. Key areas include ESD implementation, green school programs, and measuring environmental worldviews among students.
Publications: His recent work addresses eco-anxiety, climate action motivations, and the psychological dimensions of sustainability. He co-authored influential books like Collaboration and Education for Sustainable Development and contributed to international projects evaluating ESD frameworks.
