Atle Libæk Wold is a Professor of British Studies at the University of Oslo's Department of Literature, Area Studies and European Languages. He leads the PhD programme at ILOS and holds a Ph.D. in British History from the University of Edinburgh (2003). Previously, he taught at the University of Stavanger. His research focuses on eighteenth-century British history, including Scottish loyalism during the French Revolutionary Wars, privateering, and British naval policies. He also engages with contemporary Scottish and UK constitutional issues, devolution, and party politics.

Research interests include the 'war on trade' between Britain and France, privateering's role in naval conflicts, and neutral nations' responses to wartime commerce. Key projects include the Anglophone Political Cultures Research Group and studies on Norwegian sovereignty post-1814.
Teaching spans British history, politics, and literature, including courses on the British Constitution, Scottish Politics, and Northern Ireland. His work bridges historical analysis and modern political dynamics, emphasizing constitutional reform and transnational influences.
