Atlas Torbati is a Senior Lecturer in the MA Understanding Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse (UDVSA) and Senior Tutor at the Department of Social, Therapeutic and Community Studies (STaCS) at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her research focuses on gender-based violence, masculinities in diaspora contexts, and migration studies. She holds a PhD from the University of Bristol, where her thesis explored Iranian men’s perceptions of sexual violence in the UK.
Her work bridges sociology, gender studies, and Middle Eastern migration, with publications addressing hegemonic Islamic masculinities, migrant respectability, and generational dynamics among Iranian Zoomers. Recent articles include analyses of Iranian diaspora masculinities in the UK and intersectional approaches to migrant experiences. Torbati’s contributions span academic journals like the Irish Journal of Sociology and interdisciplinary platforms such as Discover Society. She has also engaged in public discourse via broadcasts on male suicide.
