Dr. Atiya S. Love is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Education and Director of the Higher Education Leadership Program at Widener University. She holds a PhD in Theory, Organization, and Policy in Education from Rutgers University, an EdM in Social & Philosophical Foundations of Education from Rutgers, a BS in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Mixed Methods Research Certificate from the University of Michigan. Her research focuses on the intersection of faith, spirituality, and education, employing qualitative and historical methods to explore spiritual wellness, organizational change, and social justice. She investigates how morals and values influence individual resilience and institutional outcomes like retention and belonging.
Dr. Love has presented at AERA, ASHE, and AABHE conferences, contributed to books like Leading Against the Grain and Opportunities and Challenges of HBCUs, and delivered a special AERA talk on doctoral education. Her professional affiliations include the American Educational Research Association (AERA), American Association of Blacks in Higher Education (AABHE), and Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE). With over a decade in higher education administration, she has held roles in Trio Programs, Residence Life, and grant management at the California Community Foundation. Her mission centers on advocating for marginalized voices in research, policy, and practice.
