Athanasios Papas

Dr. Athanasios Papas is a Visiting Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery at European University Cyprus's School of Medicine. He holds a PhD from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and is certified by the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

His clinical expertise spans reconstructive microsurgery, aesthetic surgery, and cutaneous oncology. Research focuses on surgical innovations in limb reconstruction, biomarkers for vascular anomalies, and outcome measurement in body contouring. He received the Hellenic Society of Plastic Surgery's best poster award for melanoma metastasis research.

Research contributions include: developing the BODY-Q patient outcome instrument for body contouring; analyzing risk factors for breast implant rotation; and identifying microRNA biomarkers for hemangioma proliferation. He has served as Treasurer of the Hellenic Society of Plastic Surgery and reviewer for leading journals including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Current clinical interests include perforator flap refinements for extremity reconstruction and management of complex oncological defects. His educational research examines aesthetic surgery training adequacy for residents.
