Astrid Krisch

Astrid Krisch is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Global Centre on Healthcare and Urbanisation (GCHU), Kellogg College, University of Oxford. She specializes in spatial planning, urban studies, and human geography, with a focus on sustainability transformations, experimental governance, equity, social innovation, and foundational infrastructures. Her work bridges urban planning, health, and climate policy to address structural challenges in achieving equitable and climate-resilient urban development.

Before joining Oxford in 2023, she held research roles at Vienna University of Technology, Austrian National Public Health Institute, and Vienna University of Economics and Business. She co-founded the Competence Centre for Infrastructure Economics and serves on the organizing committee of the 6th Foundational Economy Conference. Her peer-reviewed contributions span leading journals in urban studies, environmental policy, and spatial planning.

Current projects include accelerating urban eco-social innovations (funded by the John Fell Fund) and researching eco-social policy networks (Regional Studies Association). Her work emphasizes participatory approaches, transformative governance, and structuring foundational infrastructures to promote wellbeing economies and climate-friendly living.

Key publications explore barriers to healthy climate practices for vulnerable groups, discursive institutionalization of urban infrastructure, and the role of social innovation in local development. Her research underscores the interplay between structural systems, policy frameworks, and community engagement in achieving sustainable urban futures.
