Astrid Koelman

Astrid Koelman is a Researcher at Artesis Plantijn University College, specializing in self-regulated learning, motivation, and educational pedagogy. She holds a Master’s in Educational Pedagogy from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (2002) and has over two decades of experience in primary education, teacher training, and applied research. Currently, she works within the educational research unit OLLI and supports didactic initiatives at AP University College.

Her research focuses on fostering self-directed learning among higher education students, social and academic integration, and positive pedagogical climates. Notable projects include the Stimu-Leren initiative (2018–2022) and the SALMON project (2024–present), which develop tools to guide educators in fostering self-regulated learning. She co-authored the book *Kleuterleerkracht* (2021) and collaborates on digital study guides for Moodle integration.

Astrid also advises on policy and didactic strategies, including support materials for teachers to enhance student engagement and climate. Her work bridges research, teaching, and practical educational innovation.
