Asta Zokaityte

Dr Asta Zokaityte is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Kent’s Kent Law School, serving as Deputy Director of the Postgraduate Research Programme and Deputy Director of the Social Critiques of Law (SoCriL) Research Group. She holds a Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy and previously served as an International Research Fellow at the University of Milan’s Information Society Law Centre.

Her academic work focuses on socio-legal regulation of private markets, particularly in consumer finance, corporate governance, healthcare technologies, and food systems. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Contract Law, Company Law, Consumer Law, Corporate Governance, and Commercial Credit. Her research explores issues like access to credit, fairness of credit terms, and structural inequality in legal frameworks.

Professionally, she advises doctoral and LLM students on topics including consumer law and financial market regulation. She is affiliated with the Socio-Legal Studies Association, National Contract Law Educators Network, and International Association of Consumer Law. She also contributes to anti-racist legal analysis projects and governance studies through the Centre for the Study of Race, Gender and Sexuality.

Prior to academia, she practiced law at an international firm, advising on mergers, corporate restructuring, and capital markets. She collaborated with Lithuania’s Financial Consumers Association and Central Bank on consumer finance policy and education.
