Assen Terziev

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Assen Terziev holds a position at the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts 'Krastyu Sarafov', serving as Head of the Department of Theater Studies. He specializes in theater theory, history, and management, with notable contributions to English Romanticism studies. His academic journey includes a 2002 graduation and a 2010 PhD on 20th-century European theatricality. He co-founded the Via Fest Foundation, overseeing major theater festivals like Varna Summer and World Theater in Sofia. His research is reflected in two award-winning monographs and over 200 publications in journals like Homo Ludens and Culture.

He teaches courses such as History of European Theater and Theatre Journalism, and actively participates in academic and cultural organizations including the Guild of Theater Critics. His Icarus awards recognize his critical texts on theatricality and English Romantic drama. Terziev remains a pivotal figure in Bulgarian theater academia and international cultural initiatives.
