Aspa Baroutsis

Dr. Aspa Baroutsis is an Associate Professor and Chair of Discipline (Primary) in the Faculty of Education at Southern Cross University, recognized with the 2023 Vice Chancellor's Award for Research Excellence. Her sociological research examines education policy, digital pedagogies, learning spaces, and student engagement strategies.

Baroutsis investigates media representations of teachers and educational institutions across traditional and digital platforms. Her ARC-funded research focuses on supporting educators in flexible and non-traditional school environments. Current projects analyze how digital technologies and spatial design influence student belonging and participation.

With expertise spanning media sociology and cultural studies, she explores tensions between education policies, public perceptions, and institutional practices. Her methodological approaches include discourse analysis, participatory research, and sociomaterial investigations of learning environments.
