Dr. Aslı Kandemir is a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham's School of Education, affiliated with the Leverhulme Trust-funded project on youth engagements with race and faith (2022-25). She previously served as a Teaching Fellow at Keele University and earned her PhD from Liverpool Hope University. Her work focuses on racial/religious inequalities, education policy, and cultural racism.

Research Interests: State power, symbolic borders, populism, gender/sexuality studies, and qualitative methods. Recent work explores how tolerance is weaponized in British education policy to reinforce cultural hierarchies.
Publications: Focused on race/faith in schools, British values, and mentorship in academia. Recent outputs include policy reports and peer-reviewed articles on youth engagement and educational equity.
Awards: Vice Chancellor’s Scholar (Liverpool Hope), Jean Monnet Scholar (Durham).
Other Roles: Certified academic mentor, peer reviewer for top journals, and former radio DJ/capoeirista.
