Ashwini Ashokkumar is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. She holds affiliations with the WE-search Lab and previously served as Assistant Professor of Social Psychology at New York University (NYU), where she directed the WE-search Lab. Prior to NYU, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the Polarization and Social Change Lab at Stanford University. She earned her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Her research investigates how identities shape and are shaped by political behaviors, including deliberation, intergroup attitudes, and minority treatment. She employs both traditional social psychology methods (surveys, experiments) and computational techniques (language/network analysis) to study these dynamics in digital and natural settings. Current research emphasizes technologically-mediated environments and political processes.
Award activity and grants are not explicitly listed in available texts. The lab actively recruits postdoctoral fellows starting Fall 2025, focusing on identity processes, language, and political psychology using methods like NLP and experiments.
