Dr. Ashok Mishra is a Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he leads research on drought modeling, hydroclimatic extremes, and climate-water-food-energy nexus systems.
- PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2007)
- Postdoctoral experience at McMaster University, Texas A&M University, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)
His research integrates statistical analysis, complex network theory, deep learning, and process-based models to study extreme climate events' impacts on water systems. As an editor for ASCE and AGU journals, he contributes to advancing hydrologic engineering and Earth systems science.
Key research areas include:
- Spatiotemporal evolution of compound extreme events
- Cascade behavior and propagation of climate extremes
- Stochastic hydrology and network design
- Water security under climate change
Scientific Leadership:
- Editor, Journal of Hydrologic Engineering (ASCE)
- Editor, Earth's Future (AGU)
He directs the Climate Extremes and Water Security (CEWS) Lab, which develops interdisciplinary methods to enhance environmental sustainability and infrastructure resilience against climate extremes.
