Ashley Woodson

Ashley Woodson is an Assistant Professor of Teaching at Wayne State University. Her research focuses on connecting ideas that inspire youth toward joy, informed action, and civic leadership, particularly within Black, youth-led social movements. She has secured funding from prestigious organizations such as the Spencer Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and National Science Foundation.

Dr. Woodson earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University. She has designed the national Freedom School curriculum for the Abolitionist Teaching Network and actively supports social studies educators in teaching about freedom. Her academic work is closely aligned with the NSF-funded Black EpiSTEMologies Research Project.
