Ashley Vaughn is an Instructor in the Department of Health Promotion and Health Behavior at Oregon State University's School of Nutrition and Public Health. Her work focuses on health communication, social determinants of health, and student belongingness in higher education. She holds an MPH from OSU and previously taught high school science, which influenced her shift to public health.
Research interests include HPV vaccination policy in academic settings, health equity, and innovative teaching methods. She co-authored a 2024 study examining HPV vaccination resources across Oregon colleges.
Recipient of the 2025 Phyllis S. Lee Award for Social Justice Leadership, her teaching emphasizes inclusive pedagogy and preparing students for health advocacy roles. She advises MPH students and leads study abroad programs exploring global health topics.
Affiliated with the Transforming Academia for Equity initiative, her work bridges public health practice and academic systems change. She actively contributes to campus efforts addressing systemic inequities.
