Ashley Spriggs is a Registered Nurse and academic at Bournemouth University serving as Deputy Head of Department for Nursing Science and Programme Lead for the BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Programme. Holding the rank of Principal Academic in Adult Nursing, she teaches anatomy, physiology, and bioscience while leveraging clinical experience from acute care settings to inform her educational practice.
Her research centers on dementia care and end-of-life interventions, with particular focus on developing simulation-based educational approaches like the DEALTS2 programme. Currently completing her PhD titled 'The Development of an Intervention to Improve End-Of-Life Care for People with Dementia in Care Homes,' she explores humanising care methodologies and integrated service models for vulnerable populations.
Analysis of her publication history reveals consistent thematic focus across 7 journal articles (2016-2022), primarily examining dementia training implementation in acute care, evaluation of simulation-based pedagogy, and service user engagement in nursing recruitment. The DEALTS2 initiative constitutes her primary research thread, addressing implementation barriers, trainer competency development, and protocol design for dementia education.
Dr. Spriggs has secured research funding including a Wessex AHSN grant for the Service Evaluation of the Dorset Adult Integrated Care Service (DAIRS) completed in 2014. Her collaborative work with researchers like Heward, Board, and Murphy demonstrates sustained engagement in healthcare education innovation and service evaluation projects.
