Dr. Ashley D. Dominguez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning & Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona's College of Education. Prior to her academic career, she taught for seven years in K-12 public charter schools in Dallas, TX. Her research focuses on ethnographic and performance methodologies, critical theories, and arts-based inquiry to advance educational equity for underrepresented youth, particularly Latinx communities. She has conducted critical performance ethnography to explore how youth utilize art and performance for social justice advocacy. Her work is supported by the Ford Foundation Fellowship Award, and her scholarship appears in journals such as International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education and Urban Education.
Dr. Dominguez earned her Ph.D. in Learning, Literacies & Technologies from Arizona State University. Her research bridges education, art, and community action, often collaborating with youth in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to address systemic inequities. She emphasizes participatory approaches to empower marginalized voices in shaping equitable educational policies and practices.
