Ashley L. Bacchi, Ph.D., is Assistant Professor of Jewish History and Ancient Mediterranean Religions at Starr King School for the Ministry, Graduate Theological Union. She also lectures in the Religious Studies and Art History departments at Humboldt State University.
Her research focuses on gender, sexuality, myth, and politics in the ancient Mediterranean, with an interdisciplinary approach integrating religious studies, classics, art history, archaeology, cultural history, literary theory, and feminist theory.
Bacchi's work exemplifies contextualization of the Hellenistic Mediterranean, highlighted by her book Uncovering Jewish Creativity in Book III of the Sibylline Oracles: Gender, Intertextuality, & Politics.
