معرفی
Dr. Ashleigh Paparella is a Lecturer (Teaching and Research) at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Sydney. She transitioned to this role after postdoctoral research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (2017-2023), where she focused on enzyme transition state analysis and antibiotic development.
- Education: PhD in Biological Sciences (University of Adelaide, 2013-2017); BSc Honours in Biochemistry (University of Adelaide, 2012-2013); BSc in Biotechnology (University of Adelaide, 2009-2011)
Her research explores the transition state structures of glycosyltransferases and their application in designing transition state analogues for novel antibiotics. Current projects target bacterial toxins like C. difficile TcdA/B and Staphylococcus aureus drug resistance mechanisms.
Recent publications highlight her work on enzyme inhibition strategies, computational drug discovery, and chemical synthesis of potent antibacterial compounds. Collaborative studies span microbiology, structural biology, and pharmacology.
- Scientific Awards: Dennis Shields Award for Postdoctoral Research Excellence (2022), Postdoctoral Service Award (2019), both from Albert Einstein College of Medicine
Dr. Paparella supervises research student Alfred HARTOJO and leads projects including the development of Two-Partner Secretion System inhibitors. She holds grants from the Centre for Drug Discovery Innovation (2024 EMCR Scheme, SABA Discovery Funding) and Faculty of Medicine and Health (2023 Start-up Scheme).
