Ashleigh Lin is a NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and Professor at the University of Western Australia's School of Population and Global Health. Her research focuses on detection and prevention of mental ill-health in young people, with emphasis on marginalized groups including LGBTQIA+ and Aboriginal youth. She holds a PhD from University of Melbourne and BSc from Curtin University.
Her research interests encompass youth mental health disparities, transgender health services, and evaluation of mental health interventions for vulnerable populations. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity.
Her publications primarily focus on LGBTQIA+ mental health, stigma reduction, and healthcare access barriers. Recent articles examine coping strategies for suicidal thoughts among gender-diverse youth and mental health service engagement for marginalized populations.
Honors include:
- Vice-Chancellor's Mid-Career Research Award (2024)
- The Minister's Award at WA Mental Health Awards (2023)
She leads several federally funded projects including the Australian Research Consortium for Trans Youth and Children (ARCTYC) and The Luminos Project. She serves as President of the Australian Professional Association for Transgender Health and contributes to youth mental health policy development.
