Ashlee Paxton-Turner is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Law at Duke University School of Law. Her research focuses on the intersection of corporate law and democracy, examining how corporate governance interacts with democratic norms and public discourse. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Duke University.
Before academia, she practiced corporate and securities law at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, litigated business disputes, and clerked for federal judges Eduardo C. Robreno (Eastern District of Pennsylvania) and Carolyn Dineen King (Fifth Circuit). Prior to law school, she taught high school mathematics in North Carolina as a Teach For America corps member.
Her scholarship addresses corporate political engagement, regulatory frameworks for fossil discoveries, historical presidential responses to protest, and redefining the First Lady’s legal role. She teaches courses like "Corporations and American Democracy" at Duke Law.
