Dr. Ashish Agalgaonkar is an Associate Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Wollongong, Australia. He previously held postdoctoral roles at the University of Tasmania and the Australian Power Quality and Reliability Centre (APQRC) at UOW, contributing to ARC-funded projects on power system dynamics and distributed grids. He coordinates the Graduate Certificate and Master of Electrical Power Engineering programs and is a Senior Member of the IEEE. His professional experience includes industry roles at KSB Pumps, MSEB, and NTPC in India.
He holds a BE and ME from Walchand College of Engineering (Sangli, India) with First Class Distinction and a PhD from IIT Bombay. His research focuses on renewable energy integration, grid reliability, system stability, electricity markets, and smart grids. He has published over 100 papers and secured multiple research grants, including the ARC Training Centre in Energy Technologies for Future Grids and a project on green hydrogen production.
His recent work explores trends in distributed generation visualization, electric vehicle infrastructure planning, hybrid energy storage systems, and Julia-based simulation tools. He actively supervises HDR students on topics like grid resiliency and voltage stability optimization. Service roles include assessing ARC applications and editing Energies journal.
Dr. Agalgaonkar collaborates internationally to advance energy systems and has designed innovative control strategies for grids with high renewable penetrations. His contributions include frameworks for PV hosting capacity evaluation and unbalanced load management in distribution networks.
