معرفی
Dr. Ashfaq Noor is a Research Scientist in the Department of Biology and Chemical Engineering at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, specializing in microalgal biotechnology for sustainable resource recovery and bio-based product development.
His educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia (2014-2018)
- MSc in Chemical Engineering from UTP, Malaysia (2011-2013)
- BS (Hons) in Biotechnology (Gold Medalist) from Sarhad University of Science and Information Technology (SUIT), Pakistan (2004-2009)
Dr. Noor's research integrates microalgal systems for bioenergy (biodiesel/bioethanol), environmental remediation through wastewater treatment, and high-value biochemical production for bioplastics and biomedical applications. His work emphasizes circular economy approaches where wastewater nutrients fuel microalgae cultivation for simultaneous pollution control and resource recovery.
Scientific recognition:
- Gold Medalist for BS in Biotechnology, Sarhad University (2009)
He leads research under the Abu Dhabi International Virtual Research Institute for Food Security (ADEK grant 2022-2027), developing integrated microalgae-wastewater systems for sustainable food/feed production. His journal refereeing services span top publications including Journal of Cleaner Production and Bioresource Technology.
Dr. Noor is affiliated with Khalifa University's Center for Biotechnology Research, where he advances algal bioprocessing engineering for commercial-scale bioeconomy applications.
