He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Georgia, an MPH in Epidemiology, and a BA in Anthropology & Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
His research focuses on water security, human biology, and global health, examining how environmental changes and resource scarcity impact hydration, nutrition, and health outcomes across diverse populations including the Tsimane’ in Bolivia, Daasanach in Kenya, and U.S. populations using NHANES data. He leads projects on household water insecurity, zika virus surveillance, and the physiological consequences of water-related stressors. Key grants include NSF funding for studies on water security and pastoralist societies.
