Asher Albertson

Asher Albertson, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Washington University in St. Louis, where he is part of the Section of Neurocritical Care and affiliated with the Hope Center for Neurological Disorders. His research focuses on molecular, cellular, and network mechanisms of cerebral recovery after severe injury, with a special interest in the relationship between normal aging and stroke.

Research Interests

Research Overview

Dr. Albertson's research spans from basic molecular and cellular neuroscience to clinical studies in neurocritical care. His recent work includes studies on aging and stroke, cortical network changes, and the application of single-cell analysis in cerebrovascular research. He uses a variety of techniques including rodent models, histology, viral gene transfer, chemogenetics, and widefield calcium imaging.
