Asha Kandathil

Asha Kandathil, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she is affiliated with the Cardiothoracic Imaging Division. She holds a dual academic appointment as a former Associate Professor at Christian Medical College (India) and has served as a Medical Officer at CSI Mission Hospital in Karakonam, India. Dr. Kandathil’s clinical expertise includes lung cancer screening, diagnosis, and post-treatment follow-up, alongside advanced imaging techniques such as MRI, breast imaging, and nuclear medicine.

Her research focuses on lung cancer, imaging biomarkers for predicting post-anesthesia complications, and challenges in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) patient outcomes. She has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and authored a book chapter in Functional Imaging in Oncology, as well as co-authored CT Angiography: New Approaches to Aortic Disease from Valve to Abdominal Bifurcation.

Dr. Kandathil serves on UT Southwestern committees including the Medical School Admission Committee, Thoracic Tumor Board, and Lung Cancer Screening Task Force. She is an active member of professional organizations such as the Radiological Society of North America and the Society of Thoracic Radiology. Additionally, she reviews manuscripts for high-impact journals like the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and European Journal of Radiology.
