Asha Amirali is a Researcher at the University of Bath, affiliated with the Department of Social & Policy Sciences and the Centre for Development Studies. Her research focuses on climate crisis politics, energy transitions, and climate justice in South Asia, particularly Pakistan. She holds a PhD in International Development from the University of Oxford, preceded by a Master of Arts in History from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Politics from Hampshire College.
Her research explores intersections of class, state institutions, and markets in contexts of planetary crisis. Key themes include energy policy, informal economies, middle-class dynamics, and political ecology. She has contributed to studies on Pakistan’s informal settlements and global climate financing regimes.
