Ash Sharma is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Cultural Studies at the London College of Communication (University of the Arts London), leading the BA (Hons) Film and Screen Studies program. He holds a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering (Imperial College London), an MA in Air Transport Engineering (Cranfield University), and an MA in Film Studies (University of Derby).
His research interests intersect race, postcolonial theory, diasporic film, digital media, and radical pedagogy. He is co-founder of darkmatter, an open-access journal on race, and co-edited Dis-Orienting Rhythms: The Politics of The New Asian Music. Current projects include the AHRC-funded South Asian Cinema and VOD Network and the Creating Interference research project at the University of Westminster.
Sharma has held roles on management boards of organizations like Docklands Outreach and Rich Mix Centre. His recent work critiques neoliberal academia, racial capitalism, and digital info-capitalism, advocating for decolonial and utopian futures.
