Aryya Gangopadhyay

Aryya Gangopadhyay is a Professor of Information Systems and Director of the Center for Real-time Distributed Sensing and Autonomy (CARDS) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He holds an affiliate professorship in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE) within the College of Engineering and Information Technology. His research focuses on machine/deep learning, cybersecurity analytics, smart communities, and multi-modal data fusion, with active projects funded by ARL, NSF, and the US DoED. He teaches advanced graduate courses in cybersecurity, deep learning, and machine learning, and has supervised sixteen doctoral dissertations and numerous MS theses.

His research projects include developing AI-driven multi-agent systems, edge computing for real-time sensing, and federated learning security. Recent work emphasizes disaster response through remote sensing and social media data fusion, as well as gesture-based human-robot collaboration systems. Collaborations involve cross-disciplinary teams addressing challenges in healthcare, environmental monitoring, and autonomous systems.
