Arvi Sepp is a Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), affiliated with the Centre for Literary and Intermedial Crossings and Brussels Interdisciplinary Research centre on Migration and Minorities (BIRMM). His research focuses on cultural memory, translation studies, and German-language literature, with specialties in Holocaust representation and transnational literary currents. He leads the OZR Basisfinanciering voor Grote Onderzoeksgroepen - CLIC project (2024-2029) and collaborates internationally on migration studies and urban research through the Brussels Centre for Urban Studies (BCUS).
Sepp has supervised 15+ students in translation studies and German literature, publishing widely on topics like postmemory, Nazi discourse analysis, and literary exile. His work bridges academic research with public engagement, evidenced by 323+ conference participations and media appearances including Grenz-Echo features (2014-2015). Awards include the Jaarprijs voor Wetenschapscommunicatie (2017) and Fritz Halbers Fellowship (2005).
