Arup Varma serves as an External Adjunct Professor specializing in Business Management. He holds a PhD in Industrial Relations & Human Resources from Rutgers University (1996), an MS in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from XLRI School of Business (1984), and a B.Sc. in Economics from St. Xavier's College, India (1982). His research focuses on international human resource management, expatriate support systems, performance management frameworks, and the evolving dynamics of remote work and gig economies. He has contributed to global HRM through edited volumes and peer-reviewed publications.
Teaching Experience: Taught Organizational and People Management, People Management at Rutgers University. Professional Activities include roles on the Rutgers Graduate Faculty Excellence in Teaching Awards Committee (1995) and panels for Teaching Assistant Orientations. He has also engaged in career counseling for high school students and contributed to international student affairs.
Research Interests: Expatriate adjustment, AI-driven performance management, cross-cultural communication barriers, sustainable gig economy models, and global career development systems. His work explores ethical implications of technology in HR and the impact of cultural distance on expatriate experiences.
