Aruna Palipana

Aruna Palipana serves as a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) within the Department of Engineering, Design and Mathematics. He teaches Thermodynamics, Thermofluid Systems, Building Mechanical Services, Aerodynamics, and Renewable Energy modules while contributing to the UWE-SHAPE partnership with Hong Kong.

Research spans Renewable Energy systems, Thermofluids engineering, Building Services optimization, Computational Fluid Dynamics applications, industrial Energy Management, and innovative Engineering Education methodologies. Specific expertise covers IC Engine combustion, alternative fuels, indoor air quality, refrigeration, sustainable building operations, and pedagogy in higher education.

He maintains professional affiliations as a life member of the Sri Lanka Energy Managers’ Association and holds certifications as a Low Carbon Consultant, qualified workplace first-aider, trained Samaritan, personal development coach, and massage therapist. Personal pursuits include Celtic music, yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, Indo-Chinese astrology, DIY projects, cricket, and backpacking.
