Arun Konagurthu

Arun Konagurthu is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Research in the Department of Data Science & AI at Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology. His roles include leading the Bachelor of Computer Science program (2016-2019) and holding a Larkins Fellowship (2011-2013). He earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Melbourne (2007).

His research focuses on computational biology, bioinformatics, and statistical learning. Key areas include protein structure alignment, information theory applications, and algorithm design. Notable projects include Next-generation Protein Structural Comparison (2015-2019) and modeling agents against SARS-CoV-2 protease (2020).
