Arumugam Mahendrasingam is a Reader in Physics at Keele University's School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. As a member of the Fibre Diffraction Group, he specializes in X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques for studying molecular structure in natural and synthetic materials. His research develops time-resolved and microfocus X-ray methods for polymer characterization.
Education includes:
- BSc (Hons) Physics, University of Sri Lanka
- PhD in X-ray fibre diffraction, Keele University
Research applications include elongation flow effects on polymers, biodegradable polymer alternatives, cocoa butter polymorphism, and pharmaceutical solid-state transitions. Current investigations focus on industrial processing conditions through collaborations with Innovia, Nestle, and University of Minnesota researchers.
