Arry Rahmawan Destyanto is a permanent researcher at Universitas Indonesia's Systems Engineering, Modeling, and Simulation Laboratory specializing in Serious Simulation Gaming since 2015, concurrently pursuing PhD studies at Delft University of Technology under the MAGPORT project focused on inter-island port development in Indonesia.
His academic background includes:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Universitas Indonesia
- Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Universitas Indonesia
His research centers on simulation game methodologies for complex system analysis, with expertise spanning game design, analytics, and application in sustainable port development and supply chain management. He pioneers the use of serious games as intervention tools for policy making, professional training, and education in Indonesian development contexts, emphasizing stakeholder competency development through experiential learning frameworks.
Publication analysis reveals a consistent trajectory applying simulation gaming to sustainability challenges, particularly energy transition and biofuel supply chains, demonstrating interdisciplinary integration of computer science, environmental systems, and operational research to address real-world policy complexities.
Supported by an Indonesian government grant for his MAGPORT research, he co-founded Signifier Games to advance simulation gaming applications across Indonesian education and policy sectors, establishing critical partnerships between academic institutions and port development stakeholders.
His work bridges Universitas Indonesia's Systems Engineering Laboratory and TU Delft's Policy Analysis group within the Multi-Actor Systems department, driving collaborative initiatives in serious game development for sustainable infrastructure planning through the Signifier Games research collective.
